The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is always special as it ends a season and, in many cases, stages in Formula 1.
This is the last weekend of Kimi Raikkonen in the top category after 350 races and 19 seasons, and also the last appointment of Antonio Giovinazzi with whom he has contested his three complete courses in F1, between 2018 and 2021.
It is without a doubt an event with a farewell flavor, and from Alfa Romeo they have wanted to dedicate a special message in their cars to their two drivers before launching a completely renewed line-up in 2022 with Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou.
In the Finn’s he wears a reference to one of his most mythical radio messages, when he asked his engineer to leave him alone: “Dear Kimi, we will leave you alone now” (Dear Kimi, now we will leave you alone). The one from Italian, a simple ‘Thank you for everything, Antonio’ in his language .

But the Alfa Romeo C41 not only carry those messages, but another even more beautiful. On one side there is a sticker of a torpedo and a hashtag #PanTorpeda, a drawing made by Natan Gajek , a seven-year-old Polish F1 fan who has been fighting a malignant tumor for three years.
“The Alfa Romeo Racing team wants to support the child in this way and express its admiration for his will to fight. When a passion is stronger than illness, it is necessary to recognize it. We will carry a special sticker on our cars this weekend in support to Natan, a young Polish fan who suffers from neuroblastoma. Never give up, Natan!”

But the tributes at Alfa Romeo do not end there. On Friday morning, before the first free practice session, Antonio Giovinazzi presented a special helmet design for the Abu Dhabi GP , as a tribute to his teammate before his last weekend.
Gio’s helmet is based on the one Raikkonen wore when he won the 2007 Formula 1 World Championship with Ferrari, and bears the message ‘Thanks Kimi’, as well as containing the ‘Iceman’ sticker that always accompanies the Finn.
