Dead in Dänischenhagen and Kiel – No statement yet

Two men and a woman are shot dead in and near Kiel. The alleged perpetrator faces the police in Hamburg. It is the husband of those killed. Many questions remain open.

Dänischenhagen / Kiel (dpa) – Is a separation possible as a motive for the bloody act of Dänischenhagen and Kiel? The first results of the investigation indicated this on Thursday, but many questions remained unanswered.

After the police found a 43-year-old woman and a ten-year-old man shot dead in a semi-detached house in the small and quiet suburb north of Kiel on Wednesday, investigators later discovered a man who was also shot in Kiel. The 47-year-old husband of the dead is suspect in all cases. He lived apart from the woman. All victims and the alleged perpetrator are German.

After an hour-long escape, the 47-year-old turned himself in to the police in Hamburg in the evening and was taken into custody in Kiel that night. An arrest warrant was issued against the man on Thursday evening for murder in the cases in Dänischenhagen and for manslaughter in the case of the man killed in Kiel. The senior public prosecutor Michael Bimler announced in the evening. The suspect had a lawyer explain that he did not deny the offenses.

At first it was not clear whether the people killed in Dänischenhagen were a couple and it was the subject of the investigation. The two were “very well acquainted,” said a police spokesman. According to the information, the 52-year-old man who was shot in Kiel also belongs to the suspect’s personal environment, but he is not a relative.

After the police discovered the two bodies in the semi-detached house in Dänischenhagen, a strong manhunt began. Witnesses had seen a white SUV with Euskirchen license plates drive away. Officials also searched a building in Westensee, west of Kiel. A white SUV with Euskirchen approval was later seen in Kiel. The police searched the brewery district in the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein.

As it turned out later, they were different vehicles, both rental cars. Unfounded reports and rumors of a possible rampage in the city, which were spread via social media, caused greater excitement. Even an old photo of an armed pedestrian dressed in white made the rounds, much to the displeasure of the police. The officials also pointed out via social media that there was no rampage and that no shots had been fired, and ended the operation in the brewery district after a few hours.

The 43-year-old woman leaves four children behind. Their ages range from preschool to puberty, confirmed Chief Prosecutor Bimler. The suspected father has no criminal record. However, there is a complaint against him that could be related to the events. The police said on Wednesday that it was likely to be a relationship act.

Again and again, acts of violence cause horror in families. Most recently, a 35-year-old woman and her four-year-old boy died violently in Bispingen, Lower Saxony, in the Heidekreis. The eleven-year-old daughter was found dead on a path in the Lüneburg Heath. Police arrested the woman’s 34-year-old partner as a suspect. He is in custody.
