FIA candidate Graham Stoker's ideas for F1

Graham Stoker will face Mohammed ben Sulayem in the December 17 vote to become Jean Todt ‘s successor as FIA president.

And with almost a week to go before the election, Stoker has outlined his vision of how he wants the FIA to treat F1 if he wins.

In his description of 10 key commitments for Formula 1, which covers areas such as safety, sustainability, diversity and inclusion, fans or technology, he also includes a change in governance in the category.

In particular, he suggests appointing an experienced F1 Special Envoy to help improve dialogue between the FIA and the world’s commercial rights holder.

In the document outlining the promises he said: “The partnership between the FIA and F1’s commercial rights holder has flourished in recent years and we want to develop that relationship further.”

“To ensure there is strong governance of the sport, we propose to consider the appointment of an F1 Special Envoy who will act as a conduit between the commercial rights holder and the governing body.”

“It will be someone with deep experience in both F1 and motorsport governance, who will understand both parties and strengthen the bond between the two.”
