After three years at Honda, Alex Márquez will leave the gold wing manufacturer to ride a Ducati from the Gresini satellite lineup. The Spaniard has signed a contract with the team, not with the Italian constructor, and will have a 2022 prototype next season.
As Motorsport.com already anticipated, this course will be the last one for the youngest of the Márquez in Honda, with which he reached MotoGP in 2020, in the official Repsol team, but already with the ticket to go to LCR in 2021. The year of his debut he achieved two podiums, results that he has no longer been able to replicate in the midst of a crisis at Honda, which has not been able to hit the key with his motorcycle for a long time.
The agreement between Gresini and Alex is for two seasons, although at the moment the team founded by Fausto Gresini only has one more year in agreement with Ducati, although an extension until the end of 2024 will be announced shortly.
Márquez will have the Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio as his teammate, who is starring, in his debut season in MotoGP, with results above expectations, especially in the last races and with the pole position achieved at Mugello.

Diggia, like Alex, is directly committed to the team, not to the factory, and next year he will have the same material, a 2022 Ducati GP.
The boy from Cervera arrives at the Italian squad to replace Enea Bastianini, who will continue under a Ducati contract and is waiting to find out if he will join the official team or Pramac. Along with Márquez, Gresini will also be joined by an important Spanish sponsor, the Estrella Galicia brewery, which after losing Suzuki, the team it sponsored, will redesign its strategy to join Gresini in the MotoGP paddock.
