How many tons of CO2 does the production of the cans of mussels generate?

Exactly, for every ton of this type of canning, 10.7 tons of carbon dioxide are generated. This is the conclusion reached by Adolfo Carballo Penela, a researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela who, in his quest to achieve an eco-label that includes contamination in all phases of the life cycle of food, has carried out the test with real food.

"It was about testing the system with a practical case and the result is that 10.7 tons of CO2 are generated for each ton of said conserve", explains the author of the study. The analysis was carried out on a canned mussel from Galicia of a certain brand.
