Nationwide raid against drug crime

It was a large-scale operation: emergency services search more than a hundred locations. Among other things, it was about drug crime. Investigators had previously evaluated encrypted messages.

Wiesbaden (dpa) – With a raid on nationwide over a hundred apartments, warehouses and business premises, the police took action against drug crime.

The focus of the action from Monday morning was in Hesse, said a spokeswoman for the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Wiesbaden. There have been arrests. It was also about gun ownership.

The LKA spokeswoman explained that the starting point for the large-scale campaign was the evaluation of an encrypted messenger service. Since this crypto network was also used outside of Germany, the investigations extended worldwide. There had previously been media reports about the police operation.

The investigators want to announce details on the number of people arrested, the police officers deployed and the investigations beyond Germany on this Tuesday. The Hessian State Criminal Police Office was in charge of the investigation in Germany.
