Policemen fire shots – man dies

A 35-year-old man was fatally injured in a police operation in Wuppertal (North Rhine-Westphalia). Much is still unclear.

Wuppertal – The police shot a 35-year-old man in Wuppertal early on Sunday morning. As the police and the public prosecutor reported in a joint press release, residents had reported "a rioter in an apartment in an apartment building on Tannenbergstrasse in Wuppertal-Elberfeld" at around 1:15 a.m.

The officers then went to the rioter's apartment. "In the course of the operation, the police made use of the firearm and met the 35-year-old riot," said the message. "Despite immediate help, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later."

A police commission in Hagen and the public prosecutor's office in Wuppertal are now determining the exact processes. Further details will be announced on Monday (June 14th). (ml / afp)
