Survey: majority of Germans against relief for vaccinated people

According to a survey, the majority of Germans are against the lifting of restrictions on those who have been fully vaccinated and those who have recovered.

Berlin (dpa) – The majority of Germans consider the lifting of corona-related restrictions for fully vaccinated and recovered people to be wrong. In a survey by the YouGov opinion research institute on behalf of the German Press Agency, 32 percent said that the groups of people should not receive any advantages as long as not everyone had the opportunity to have the vaccination. Another 21 percent believe that vaccinated and convalescent people should generally not be treated differently than people who are not vaccinated. In contrast, only 39 percent believe that the restrictions should be lifted. 8 percent did not provide any information.

A regulation has been in effect since last Sunday that lifts a number of restrictions for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered from corona infection. You can meet other people again without restriction and no longer have to observe night exit restrictions. Traveling has also become easier for these groups of people. The quarantine obligation on return to Germany only applies to you if you come from an area with new virus variants. There are currently only eleven countries outside of Europe. They are also largely exempt from the obligation to test when entering Germany.

According to the Robert Koch Institute on Saturday (as of 10:40 a.m.), 721 279 vaccine doses were administered on Friday. This means that more than 30 million people in Germany have received their first vaccination against the coronavirus. Thus 36.5 percent of the population are vaccinated at least once, as Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) announced on Saturday via Twitter. More than nine million people, and thus 10.9 percent of the population, already have full vaccination protection.
