Teachers are molested because of Corona measures

Insulted, insulted, threatened: If teachers insist on the Corona measures, according to a survey they have to put up with a lot. However, mostly not from the student side.

Berlin (dpa) – Many teachers report insults, insults and threats because of the implementation of Corona measures in schools.

In a representative Forsa survey of 1,500 teachers on behalf of the education union VBE, 22 percent stated that they were aware of direct attacks on teachers at their own school in connection with the implementation of infection control measures. Insults and threats via email or chats were reported by 25 percent.

For the most part, the attacks came from parents, but some of them also came from adults who had no children at the school or from organizations that speak out against the corona measures. According to the survey, primary schools are most frequently affected, and high schools least.

VBE chairman Udo Beckmann named threats at parents’ evening, escalating discussions, letters and threats with criminal charges and professional bans as examples. Teachers and school administrators would be attacked for doing their job and implementing the prescribed infection control measures. “It shouldn’t be accepted like that.” The ministries of education are responsible for protecting the employees in schools.
