The investigators begin to search the “L2.01” building and concentrate on a “kind of tea kitchen” that is freely accessible. The house is evacuated and the immediate area is blocked. During the course of the day, all other rooms are also searched for traces – especially for food and drink, through which the poison was probably absorbed. In this context, the police and the Presidium of the Technical University advise not to consume any food and drinks that were stored in the premises of the Lichtwiese campus during the period of the crime!

On the basis of several investigations, the Darmstadt police suspected that harmful substances in several milk packs and water containers caused the poisoning. According to the current status, the containers were mixed with the harmful substance in the course of the past weekend. The pungent smell of the liquids concerned should be particularly noticeable. An analysis shows which substance it is exactly. The investigators do not want to divulge the name, however, because it is about perpetrator knowledge. According to senior public prosecutor Robert Hamann, the substance is harmful to health and poisonous.

But even if it is clear how the people were poisoned, many questions remain unanswered. Who mixed the substance into the drinks, when and, above all, why? The 40-person homicide squad “Light” is now supposed to find answers to these questions. The day after the incident at the TU Darmstadt, the Darmstadt public prosecutor’s office also intervened and initiated proceedings on the initial suspicion of attempted murder.

The president of the university, Tanja Brühl, spoke up on Tuesday (August 24th) and condemned the act in the strongest possible terms. “We are shocked by the obvious crime that has taken place at our university. I will contact you personally as soon as possible, provided your condition allows it. ”She also describes the incident as a suspected poisoning attack. According to the police, there is currently no longer any acute danger. In addition, no other people reported with symptoms of intoxication.
