What are electro-oesophical fluids?

Liquids that change their state in the presence of a magnetic field are called electro-rheological fluids. Depending on the intensity of the field to which they are subjected, these materials can go in a matter of milliseconds from flowing like water to slowly spilling like honey or solidifying like gelatin.

Easy to produce, electro-rheological fluids consist of microscopic particles of silica grit or polymers suspended in an insulating liquid. On the other hand, they have the disadvantage that in solid state they have a very weak structure and in liquid they are abrasive.

However, the automotive industry, as well as that of integrated circuits, have been interested in them, since they will allow the manufacture of machines and robots faster and better adapted to work.
