What are quasars?

Considered the most luminous stars in the universe , quasars are born from the collision of two galaxies , as confirmed by the latest images sent by the Hubble space telescope.

Powered by the energy released from the violent collision and the surrounding galactic material, the quasar grows in the center of the new galaxy until it becomes a celestial object so bright that it can be detected at distances greater than 10 billion light years.

Its exceptional luminosity is believed to be due to the presence of a giant black hole at the heart of the galaxy. The gaseous matter that surrounds it, which rotates very quickly, reaches high temperatures due to friction and turbulence phenomena. Hence, the intense radiation emitted by quasars.
