Why are cloudless nights colder?

Clouds exert a major influence on Earth's climate. Because they are formed by a thick layer of water vapor, the cloud masses act as solar filters that reflect a large part of the energy from the king star into outer space. That is why on cloudy days the temperature does not rise as on sunny days .

During the night, the earth's surface is shed from the accumulated heat. If the sky is clear, the cooling process occurs slowly but steadily, reaching its lowest point just before sunrise. The same does not happen at night with overcast skies. Since clouds impede the passage of heat radiation, a fraction of from power cooling crustal is again reflected to it.The result of this energy rebound is that the temperature can not fall as easily as in the cloudless nights .
