Potsdam – The number of deaths after a corona outbreak in a retirement home in Brandenburg has increased to 14. This was announced by Brandenburg’s Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) on Monday evening in the RBB program “Brandenburg Aktuell”.
“That is a very, very bad finding,” she said. “That is exactly what we didn’t want to experience again.” In the afternoon, the Barnim district put the number of deaths at eleven. In addition, 44 residents and 15 employees of the facility are sick with Covid-19.
“It is a very unfavorable situation in this home, because the residents are vaccinated quite well, but the employees have a relatively low vaccination rate,” said medical officer Heike Zander to the radio station Antenne Brandenburg. “In this facility it is only about 50 percent.”
This carries an increased risk, said Zander, the broadcaster, “and that has now also shown”. Zander was “unhappy” that vaccinations in care facilities are still voluntary. “For me that has something to do with a career attitude.” Dpa
