Two girls probably wanted to shorten the route and tried to run across a railway line. One of them paid for it with his life.

Oppenweiler (AP) – In Oppenweiler, northeast of Stuttgart, a train caught a 14-year-old girl crossing the railroad tracks and fatally injured. The girl died at the scene of the accident, as the police told Aalen.

The 14-year-old wanted to cross the tracks with an eleven-year-old girl on Monday evening in order to probably save a bit of the way, the police said on Tuesday evening.

Both girls ran across the tracks one after the other when a regional express train approached. According to the information, the older woman was shocked when she saw the train and wanted to turn back. The 45-year-old train driver initiated an emergency stop, which, however, could not prevent the impact.
