The North American rock band, Metallica , has been the most talked about for several days on social networks like Twitter. A few days ago it confirmed its presence in 2022 at the Mad Cool festival in Madrid, being one of the main attractions of the Madrid event.
The news has jumped again when the most mediatic international metal band has announced for September a new edition of their now legendary album ‘Black Album’, released in 1991 and which established them as one of the most important rock bands in history .
The band confirmed that it will be a special edition with collaborations such as Miley Cyrus, Juanes, Elton John, J. Balvin or Mon Laferte . But what is special about this Metallica album, considered one of the most important in rock history?
Metallica’s best known album
Produced by the brand new and well-known Bob Rock, the ‘Black Album’ is the band’s best known album. As soon as it went on sale, it was installed at the top of the charts of the time and more than 22 million copies sold have been registered worldwide to date.
Despite disagreements with the producer, once the album was released and with the success achieved, Bob Rock produced the band’s next three albums and considers it his greatest professional success.
The beginning with Enter Sandman
It was the first song James Hetfield wrote for the album. The funny thing is that it was a song about a baby dying in the cradle. His classmates asked him not to be so explicit and he changed the lyrics completely in one day.
The best ballad ever
Metallica’s ‘Black Album’ features some of the most iconic songs in the band’s history such as Enter Sandman, Sud but True or The Unfurgiven . But there is one song that has surpassed all of them and has become universal in time. It is Nothing Else Matters , for many the best ballad in rock history.
James Hetfield wrote it for himself in hotel rooms during the previous tour. But the band listened to it and they thought it must be on the record.
Divorces
It’s funny that one of Metallica’s best albums was written during a really critical moment for three of its members. And is that when the album was published, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammet and Jason Newsted, had already divorced their respective partners.
