Aeroméxico flight 874 aborted its takeoff at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), an operation that was not authorized by the control tower, reported Mexican Airspace Navigation Services (Seneam).

"The evidence indicates that the pilot of Aeromexico flight 874 began the takeoff run at #AIFA without authorization from the control tower and aborted the takeoff process," the agency said on its Twitter account.

"The corresponding investigations have already been initiated by the air authority and the protocols will be followed," he added.

Subsequently, Aeroméxico reported that the flight, operated by an Embraer 190 team and destined for Mérida, aborted its takeoff when it was at low speed, that is, at the beginning of its career.

"The maneuver was carried out in accordance with security procedures and at no time was the operation at risk," the company said in a statement.

"Later, the flight was carried out without any inconvenience. In accordance with the corresponding protocols, we will carry out the investigation in absolute coordination and collaboration with the authorities to determine responsibilities and guarantee measures to avoid similar events," he added.
