As part of the agreements between the Federal Government and the airlines to increase the offer of flights at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), Aeroméxico reported that it will begin to increase its operations at the new airport until it has 30 daily operations from the current four to the end of October. With this, the airline would have 15 daily flights from the two that it currently offers.
In a statement, the airline stated that during the following year it will offer up to 1.5 million seats at the new airport, where it currently operates three flights to Mérida, Villahermosa and Puerto Vallarta.
"These agreements will allow us to maintain our offer of flights to and from the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) for the benefit of users, and we will continue to collaborate with the authorities to operate under the highest security standards," the company said.
Aeroméxico's announcement comes a day after the meeting of airlines with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the Navy (Semar), days after problems arose in Mexican airspace and warnings from international organizations.
At the meeting, it was agreed to place more than 100 operations in the AIFA, maintain the current takeoff and landing schedules (or slots ) in the AICM, and move all domestic cargo and charter flights to the AICM, in addition to taking out of the capital's airport to the airlines that have debts.
Aeroméxico reported that it will announce the details of its additional flights at AIFA in the near future.
