Because of the “unreasonable waiting times” at Cologne/Bonn Airport, the airport has requested solutions from the federal police. Own measures are also planned.

Cologne/Bonn – The situation at Cologne/Bonn Airport was sometimes chaotic over the weekend (July 22nd to 24th). Some passengers had to wait seven hours or more at security checkpoints. Since even the police had to intervene, the airport finally reacted. The federal police and the service provider Securitas are also expected to make “constructive suggestions on how the problems at the security checkpoint can be solved as quickly as possible,” said airport boss Thilo Schmid.
24RHEIN reveals what Cologne/Bonn Airport is now planning to reduce waiting times.

At times over the weekend, fewer than 50 percent of the security check lanes that were required as planned were open. In addition, aircraft had to be loaded and unloaded several times due to a lack of passengers. Cologne/Bonn Airport, like Düsseldorf Airport, has been struggling with long queues and long waiting times since the beginning of the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia. (os)
