With “Ian” gone, President Biden took stock of the devastation left in the East Coast state.

Washington/Fort Myers – According to US President Joe Biden, reconstruction in the US state of Florida after Hurricane “Ian” will take years. “This is going to take a very, very long time, not just weeks or months.

It’s going to take years,” Biden said during a visit to Fort Myers. He promised the people that the US government would stand by their side – even if the television cameras were gone again. “We will come out of this better because we are the United States of America,” Biden said.

The US President and his wife Jill had seen the situation in a helicopter, among other things. They then met with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. It is expected that these hurricanes could get really bad, he said. However, this often does not happen at all. In the case of “Ian”, however, the worst fears had materialized.

“Ian” made landfall in Florida a week ago as a level four of five hurricane. On its way across the southern US state, it caused enormous damage and cost the lives of dozens of people. dpa
