The dream of every motorsport driver is to make his debut in Formula 1, reach the highest category with the fastest cars, the best drivers and all the greatness that the pinnacle of motorsport has. A bigger dream is to win a race, be the first to see the checkered flag, receive congratulations from everyone and climb to the first step of the podium to listen to your country’s anthem.

But what drivers who are not satisfied with little dream of is a higher goal: to be Formula 1 world champions. Not many have achieved it, and here we want to pay tribute to all the F1 champions in history.

34 drivers have shared the 72 Formula 1 world championships held so far. 34 F1 world champion drivers of 15 nationalities and 16 different countries (for Great Britain the English and Scottish have won).

The most successful are Schumacher and Hamilton. Michael Schumacher in 2002 equaled Juan Manuel Fangio, who at that time was the driver with the most titles, and would later win two more until he reached seven crowns. Hamilton was adding crowns year after year and has already tied ‘ Schumi ‘ himself in 2020.

In this 2021 the Englishman sought to overcome the Kaiser ‘s record and place himself alone at the top of the table with a new record of eight titles, but Max Verstappen and Red Bull have prevented him, in the first crown of the young Dutchman.

Before Max, the last to join this list of laureates had been Rosberg. It took him 11 seasons and two runner-up finishes but finally, at the third clear opportunity he had, Nico was proclaimed the 2016 Formula 1 world champion, five days before surprisingly deciding to retire.

Without Rosberg, Hamilton was left with Vettel as his only rival for the following years, but Lewis accumulated title after title to match first Prost and Vettel himself, then Juan Manuel Fangio and then Michael Schumacher.

But Verstappen has already entered the list and in 2022 he will be, at least, a candidate again. Will we see a new name on the list there or will it repeat one of those that has already been crowned? We will see.
