A photographer has harnessed the power of artificial intelligence to bring back to life stars and celebrities who left us too soon. Among the portraits of these characters who died young, we find those of Princess Diana, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Freddie Mercury and many others.

The project’s alma mater is Alper Yesiltas , a Turkey-based photographer who created the portraits for a project titled ‘As If Nothing Happened’ in which he used artificial intelligence photo enhancement software and photo editing programs to create the resulting images.

Immortalized as adults

Characters like Nirvana singer/songwriter Kurt Cobain who was found dead on April 5, 1994 at his Seattle home after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the age of 27, Beatles singer John Lennon , who was fatally shot in New York City on December 8, 1980 at age 40 or Queen lead vocalist Freddie Mercury, who died of bronchial pneumonia as a result of AIDS on November 24, 1991 at his London house at the age of 45, are some of those portrayed.

But there are also the actor Heath Ledger who died as a result of an accidental drug overdose on January 22, 2008 at the age of 28, the musician Jimi Hendrix who died of a drug overdose on September 18, 1970 also at 27 and another member of the sad club of 27, Janis Joplin, who died of a heroin overdose on October 4, 1970 at the age of 27.
