The company did not specify whether García Martínez was fired or voluntarily left the firm.

Apple cut relations with one of its executives for ad technology, Antonio García Martínez, following comments considered sexist that he included in a book published in 2016, as confirmed by the company on Thursday.

The Cupertino (California, United States) company did not specify whether García Martínez was fired or voluntarily left the firm, but only confirmed that the executive – hired just a few weeks ago – no longer works for them.

”At Apple we have always strived to create an inclusive and inclusive workplace where everyone is respected and accepted. Behaviors that degrade or discriminate against people because of who they are have no place here, ”the company said in a statement.

García Martínez, born in the United States of Cuban parents and with dual American and Spanish nationality, is the author of a book published in 2016 in which he recounts his experience working for Facebook, one of his previous employers.

In it, she dedicates a few sentences to expressing her impressions of the majority of the women in the San Francisco Bay area, whom she describes as “lazy and weak, spoiled and naive despite the fact that they boast of being cosmopolitan, and generally loaded of nonsense ”.

After selecting this and several other excerpts from his book, more than 2,000 Apple employees signed a petition asking the company to review the hiring of García Martínez, since it “cast doubt on the company’s culture of inclusion” .
