Apple's next big event may be in 2022 and it can announce its long-awaited glasses

This 2022 is presented as a very busy year for Apple , if we pay attention to the many rumors that run during these months around the company, full of new technology that can be on a par with important moments such as the first presentation Macintosh in 1984, the first iMac in 1999 or the first iPhone in 2007.

This time around, the key item will take Apple into new territory: AR/VR glasses. This project, one of Apple’s most ambitious in many years, is rumored to encompass augmented reality and virtual reality. Augmented reality superimposes computer information onto real-world images, while virtual reality places a screen so close to your eyes that your brain will be tricked into thinking you’ve been transported into a computer-generated world.

Smart glasses could be the next big thing

It’s like the difference between Microsoft hologlasses and Quest, developed by Meta (the old Facebook). The hologlasses are being used to help technicians in the field share information while performing inspections and repairs at oil giant Chevron. For its part, Quest is known for its successful games and immersive experiences, such as the puzzle game Superhot and the action game Star Wars: Vader Immortal.

Most of the leaks and rumors have focused on the specifications of the headset, as well as its ultra-fast wireless network and super high-definition images. But there are still plenty of questions surrounding the surprise Apple may have up its sleeve for its next big event, maybe iGlass at last?

Its release date is also a mystery. At one point it was said to be scheduled for 2020, but now it has been postponed to 2022, according to company sources. And we still don’t know what those hypothetical iGlass will be used for and whether they will be sold as an accessory, like the Apple Watch and AirPods. In fact, it is not even known if they will be called that, or if Apple will choose another name.

Analysts and industry insiders say Apple’s slick software, combined with the App Store and online services like the Spotify music platform, help keep the company ahead of rivals. The reason everyone always looks to Apple is that yes, there is well-designed hardware, but there is also the power of the ecosystem of the applications it develops.

As if launching a new product line wasn’t enough, Apple likely has other major updates on its plans as well. The company is said to be working on next-generation chips for its Mac computers, a long-awaited redesign of its popular MacBook Air and Mac Pro professional desktop models, and also a new design for the upcoming iPhone 14.
