April is coming, are you ready for your annual tax return?

0

There is less than a month until April arrives, and with it the obligation to present the annual return for natural persons. Are you ready?

You still have time and you can take advantage of programs such as Declare at home 2021 from the Taxpayer Defense Attorney (Prodecon) so that, when the time comes, it will be easier for you to pay your taxes.

The annual declaration is for income tax (ISR) corresponding to fiscal year 2020, explained Angélica Campoamor Roldán, general director of guidance and advice to taxpayers by remote means of Prodecon.

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) has information preloaded in its system, so it is important to verify that it is correct and, thus, enjoy the benefit of the automatic refund of a favorable balance in a timely manner – between three and five business days -.

As part of Declare en tu casa , Prodecon will offer two webinars on March 9 and 16, both days from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., where they will talk about the payroll viewer and personal deductions.

What to do before submitting the annual return?

The SAT makes tools such as the payroll viewer available to the taxpayer, where it can be verified that the receipts issued by the employer are correct.

“The SAT puts the preloaded information according to what the third parties sent it. If, for example, you have income from wages, it was what the employer stamped; if you have interest income, that’s what the bank reported, “explained Elio Zurita Morales, member of the Technical Commission for Fiscal Investigation of the College of Public Accountants of Mexico.

“Before accepting the pre-filled statement, print the SAT sheet and compare it with the real thing,” he recommended.

In the event that there is a significant difference between the information from the tax authority and reality, the taxpayer may make clarifications, but without the advantage of automatic refund.

In case the declaration has been sent with an error, don’t worry, because with the complementary declaration you can make corrections.

Although there are income for which you should not pay taxes, such as receiving an inheritance, a donation or a loan, you do have to declare them before the tax authority so that it is aware of the nature of them, stressed Zurita Morales of the College of Public Accountants .

Deductions

It is not all bad news. Regarding the payment of taxes, there are personal deductions: “expenses that as a taxpayer you have the right to reduce your accumulated income in the annual return,” explained the Tax Administration Service.

“In the case of the acquisition of lenses, there is a limit of 2,500 pesos; regarding funeral expenses, the law establishes that it is an annualized UMA ”, stated Angélica Campoamor de Prodecon.

If the refund is up to 10,000 pesos, only the taxpayer’s password is needed, if the amount goes from 10,000 to 150,000 pesos, the taxpayer will also need the CLABE of the bank – previously registered with the SAT-, explained the accountant Zurita. “If you mark a bank with which you are no longer, the return is going to get stuck,” he stressed.
