Aprilia dominates at the start in Sepang; two falls of Marquez

Sepang. February 5, 2022.- Aprilia, which for the first time in time has been able to put the new prototype designed for next season on the track from the first practice, seems to have taken another step forward with the new version of the RSV-GP . At least that is clear from the records of Espargaró and Viñales.

The driver from Granollers (Barcelona) took a dizzying lap out of his sleeve to get in front of the screens, in what is the sixth fastest lap ever given to the Malaysian track. Aleix was only 13 thousandths ahead of his neighbor in the workshop, and a fair tenth over Alex Rins, the third.

The fourth fastest of the day was Enea Bastianini, who surely takes advantage of the fact of driving a Ducati, the one from last year, whose competitiveness is already beyond any doubt. Johann Zarco finished fifth, already on top of the Desmosedici GP22, which was more than half a second behind Espargaró’s record.

Fabio Quartararo, the current world champion, finished sixth, six tenths off the lead and 65 thousandths ahead of Joan Mir (seventh).

Marc Márquez, in turn, got back on his MotoGP Honda four months after the last time, completing a total of 55 laps and finishing eighth, despite rolling on the ground twice, both without consequences.

The top ten was closed by Pol Espargaró (ninth), who was 66 thousandths behind his neighbor in the workshop, and a surprising Marco Bezzecchi, already more than a second slower than #41. Raúl Fernández finished 13th; Alex Márquez, 15th, while Pecco Bagnaia’s 19th place and Jack Miller’s 22nd also stood out.
