The Argentine event will be one of the great events outside Europe that were suspended due to the pandemic and that will return to the world championship race schedule, as Japan, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia are expected to do in the final part of the championship. . The United States Grand Prix, which was suspended in 2020, was able to return to the calendar last year and will be the fourth stop this season, just the week after the race at Termas.
The last time the World Cup visited the province of Santiago del Estero , the winner of the race was Marc Márquez , completing the podium with Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso . A fire destroyed part of the Termas de Río Hondo layout in February of last year, mainly affecting some buildings that have been rebuilt, improving the complex and the layout being ready to host the grand prize in two months.
