Frankfurt – Three globetrotters at the right time: The remake of Jules Verne’s classic “Around the World in 80 Days” starts on Tuesday (December 21, 2021) as an eight-part series on ZDF at 8:15 pm.
The series begins in London in 1872. The English gentleman Phileas Fogg (David Tennant) is wealthy and likes to spend his free time in a formal upper-class salon, where old companions meet to chat about world events of which they are in theirs Read newspapers. Women are of course undesirable here.

One day Fogg receives an enigmatic postcard with a message that consists of just one word: “Coward”. Spurred on by this, Fogg dares – smiled at by his club comrades – a bet: that he will be able to circumnavigate the world in less than 80 days in the face of new global transport routes and be back on time for Christmas. 20,000 pounds – which corresponds to a current value of over 250,000 euros – are at stake.
The servant Jean Passepartout accompanies him on the journey. Likewise Abigail Fix, a young, ambitious journalist who smells the story of her life and has decided to follow the heels of Fogg and Passepartout. But from the beginning the trip goes differently than planned.

Adventure mini-series “Around the World in 80 Days” on ZDF today (December 21, 2021): The locations
Filming for the mini-series “Around the World in 80 Days” began in February 2020. The film was shot in South Africa and Romania. In March 2020, filming had to be stopped due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in October of the same year and was completed in February 2021.
In Germany, the first season has been available in the ZDF media library since December 11, 2021. The series will be broadcast for the first time on free TV between December 21 and 23, 2021 in the main evening program of ZDF.
