Delovan was born in the Ukraine and grew up in Syria. Her parents, both doctors, fled with their three children first from Aleppo to northern Iraq and then to Germany in 2015 during the course of the Syrian civil war. “We came by plane, not on a dangerous escape,” Delovan tells the Berlin courier.
