At least 5 people have left their posts after the arrival of Raquel Buenrostro to Economy

A little less than a month after her arrival as head of the Ministry of Economy and in the midst of negotiations with the United States and Canada to resolve differences in energy matters within the framework of the T.MEC, Raquel Buenrostro has renewed the main related officials with foreign trade in dependency.

Raquel Buenrostro arrived as head of Economy on October 7. Six days later, on the 13th, the departure of Luz María de la Mora as Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and main negotiator in the framework of the T-MEC was announced; followed by other moves, in a reconfiguration of the team.

Among the departures from the agency that have taken place in recent weeks are: Marcos Ávalos, general director of the National Content Unit, and Héctor Guerrero, undersecretary of industry and commerce.

Various media have mentioned changes in the units and directions of commercial negotiations of the dependency, however the holders still appear as responsible in the online page of the Secretariat.

The changes occur when Mexico is in the midst of the energy consultation process, initiated by the United States and supported by Canada within chapter 31 -controversy settlement- of the North American trade agreement.

If the issue is not redeemed in this non-adversarial process, the issue will be resolved by an international panel.

On October 14, Raquel Buenrostro announced Alejandro Encinas Nájera as the new undersecretary of foreign trade; and Luis Abel Romero López at the head of the undersecretary of industry and commerce.

A week later, on October 20, Secretary Buenrostro assured the press that “we will always favor negotiation.”
