In the abuse proceedings against Prince Andrew, according to a lawyer for the plaintiff, he cannot hope for an out-of-court settlement. She wants justice.

New York / London – In the abuse proceedings against Prince Andrew (61), according to a lawyer of the plaintiff, the Queen’s son cannot hope for an out-of-court settlement.

“It is very important to Virginia Giuffre that this matter is resolved in a way that brings justice to her and the other victims,” one of Giuffre’s attorneys, David Boies, told the BBC Thursday night. “I don’t think she has a clear idea of what exactly a solution should look like.”

Boies told Sky News on Wednesday evening that Andrew should acknowledge his actions and compensate Giuffre. The American is demanding compensation in an unknown amount.

A judge in New York on Wednesday rejected motions from Andrew’s lawyers to stop the trial. The second eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II was threatened with a lawsuit this year if he did not reach an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre. The American accuses the prince of having sexually abused her several times around 20 years ago when she was 17. Accordingly, it was brokered by the now deceased US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew categorically denies the allegations.

Buckingham Palace did not want to comment on the case with reference to an ongoing process. British media attorney Mark Stephens told the BBC that the New York judge had “thrown a bomb in the middle and heart of the royal family” that could spark a constitutional crisis. dpa
