0

As announced, Austria will exit the partial lockdown on December 12th. Under what conditions has now become known.

Update from December 8th, 2:20 p.m.: The lockdown in Austria had caused a stir, it will end on the night of next Sunday. However, only for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. The federal government and the states decided on Wednesday. Unvaccinated people must continue to observe the exit restrictions. The opening will be accompanied by a “minimum standard of protective measures” in order to prevent a renewed increase in corona infections, said Chancellor Karl Nehammer.

For example, an FFP2 mask is mandatory indoors. The trade and hairdressers nationwide are allowed to reopen on December 13th. The catering industry must observe a curfew at 11 p.m. According to Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein, the night gastronomy and après-ski bars will remain closed. The federal states are free to make stricter rules, it said.

This creates a regional patchwork of measures. The City of Vienna has already announced that restaurants and hotels will not be able to receive guests again until a week later. The federal states of Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Burgenland, on the other hand, want to open up large areas, according to the Austrian news agency APA. The federal state of Upper Austria wants to remain completely in lockdown until December 17th. In the federal state of Salzburg, hotels and restaurants are to open on December 17th.

The 20-day lockdown since November 22nd was a consequence of the massive fourth corona wave. The seven-day incidence at the start of the measure was 1,100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week. It has now dropped to around 530.

Lockdown end in Austria – but exit restrictions for unvaccinated people continue

Nehammer said on Tuesday that the exit restrictions for all vaccinated and convalescents should be over on December 13, as planned. However, it still has to be determined under which conditions the shops are allowed to reopen.

The government wants to proceed cautiously; there will probably be a regionally different approach. Vienna has already signaled that hotels and restaurants in the federal capital will not be allowed to reopen until December 20th. For unvaccinated people, the lockdown continues to apply nationwide *.

On November 22nd, among other things, large parts of the trade were closed. Exit restrictions applied to people. Thanks to the reduction in social contacts, the 7-day incidence * has since halved to 535. The utilization of the clinics by Covid * sufferers is still high.
