Away from Spotify? Rights platform Rumble offers Joe Rogan $100 million

The right-wing US platform Rumble wants to get Joe Rogan away from Spotify – and offers the podcaster a large amount of money for it.

Washington DC – Joe Rogan is considered one of the big podcast stars in the USA. But in recent weeks he has caused criticism with various statements in his podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience”. First he is said to have made false statements about the corona vaccination, then allegations of racism were also made. Now the right-wing streaming service Rumble has apparently offered him $ 100 million if Rogan leaves Spotify.

Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski wrote in a letter addressed to Rogan, which was posted on Twitter, that the Canadian platform “stands by him, his guests and his fans who demand real conversation.” “We want to offer you 100 million reasons to make the world a better place. How about you bring all your shows to Rumble, your old and new, with no censorship, for $100 million over four years? This is your chance to save the world. And yes, that’s totally real,” the letter said.

Joe Rogan comes under criticism – Spotify boss responds

Joe Rogan has been criticized for several weeks, so just a few days ago Spotify boss Daniel Ek wrote a letter to his employees. The magazine The Hollywood Reporter published the letter, and the Independent also quoted from it. Ek “strongly condemns” Joe Rogan’s use of the N-word and other derogatory comments toward black people, Ek said. But he’s sticking to his decision to keep the podcaster on the platform because he wants to promote “all types of creators.”

Initially, however, it was about false statements about the corona virus and vaccination. The musicians Neil Young and Joni Mitchell had therefore left the streaming platform Spotify. More than 200 medical experts then signed a letter addressed to Spotify. In this letter, the experts are seeking confirmation that The Joe Rogan Experience is a source of misinformation regarding the coronavirus.

Spotify is deleting numerous episodes of Joe Rogan’s podcast

Then there was a video montage from the last few years showing that Joe Rogan used the N-word and had repeatedly made derogatory remarks about black people. Spotify boss Ek wrote in his letter that Rogan’s comments were “incredibly hurtful” and confirmed that Rogan had decided to remove several previous episodes from Spotify. A total of 113 episodes of the podcast are currently no longer available.

However, Ek refused further consequences. “I want to make one point very clear – I don’t think silencing Joe is the solution,” Ek said. “We should have clear boundaries for content and take action when they’re crossed, but deleting votes isn’t the solution.”

Joe Rogan apologizes for his missteps

According to the Independent, Rogan has since apologized for the corona misinformation and his racist language in a video published on Instagram. In a video posted last Saturday (05/02/2022), Rogan said he had the N-word the most shameful thing he’s ever had to speak out in public. (msb)
