Bagnaia: "Quartararo will have to come back a long way to be champion here"

The staging for the race that this Sunday will crown the MotoGP Emilia Romagna Grand Prix could not be better for the Ducati rider, who will start from the position of honor on the grid, while the leader of the World Championship, the French Fabio Quartararo will do it from 15th position, on the fifth row, with the difficulty that this entails.

For the World Championship to remain open until Portimao , where the next race will be held, Bagnaia must score three more points than Quartararo, something that looking at the grid not only seems very feasible, although the wet and mixed conditions with which the drivers have struggled until today it seems that they will disappear this Sunday for a dry race.

In addition to starting on pole, Pecco will have two squires from the same brand on the front row of the grid, his teammate Jack Miller and his good friend Luca Marini.

“I am very happy for the pole, and with this complete front row we have shown that our bike works. And that is very good”, said the Italian.

“In the wet in the morning it was quite difficult for me, but I improved as the track dried up with the passing of the sessions”, he added.

For Bagnaia this is the fifth pole of the year, with a streak of four consecutive in the last races.

“It is the fourth consecutive pole position and we have a good advantage with Fabio on the grid, in which he will start 15th, so he will have to climb many positions if he wants to win the World Championship here,” warned the Ducati rider.

“I will push from the beginning. It has rained a bit again this afternoon, but I prefer it to be a dry race”.

Although the forecasts say that it will not rain on Sunday, the cold will be intense all day.

“This time the cold is in our favour, we have to be very smart and attentive because it is important to be ahead at all times”.

With three Ducati ahead and Fabio so far behind, Ducati can impose team orders.

“I don’t think there are strategies, I would like to go out and escape like last time here, but it won’t be easy, the others are going very fast too”.

In any case, the second overall is open to any help.

“I’m happy that Luca is in the front row and if you can help me I’ll be grateful, but we’ll see what happens in the race”, settled the Torino.
