Bagnaia: "The goal is to win and keep the World Cup open until the end"

The Italian is currently separated by 52 points from the World Championship leader, Fabio Quartararo, and with three races remaining in the championship, only victory this weekend at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix can guarantee that the Frenchman will not be elk with his first World crown.

Last September, Pecco Bagnaia achieved his second victory in the premier class precisely at the San Marino Grand Prix , held on the same stage that will host the Emilia Romagna, Misano , this coming weekend.

With this background, the young Ducati rider hopes to be able to repeat the victory and, in this way, prolong the fight for the championship.

“To race again in Misano after the beautiful victory a month ago in front of my fans is very exciting”, explains the rider from Torino in the preview.

“That weekend everything went well and also the two days of testing that we did afterwards were very positive”, he recalls.

A Grand Prix and two days of testing mean that all the MotoGP riders have done a lot of riding on the Italian track, which will make the times very even.

“This means that we have to stay focused, as our rivals also come to this weekend very prepared”, although he warns that “the track conditions will be different, with lower asphalt temperatures”.

A change that can benefit some riders and harm others, although on paper the Ducati has worked well in low temperatures. “It will be important to work well in the first few sessions,” says Pecco.

Although his chances of being champion have been clearly reduced, the Ducati rider has clear intentions for this season finale, in which, in addition to Misano, the championship visits Portimao before concluding in Valencia .

“The goal is to fight for victory and keep the World Championship open until the end,” underlines the 2018 Moto2 world champion.
