Pecco Bagnaia painted the British Grand Prix once again in Ducati Red. The Italian driver’s victory stole the attention of the Silverstone circuit, after a memorable duel in the last laps.
This victory, the second in a row by the Italian rider, has allowed Bagnaia to cut his lead over the world leader, Fabio Quartararo.
“I don’t want to think about the championship. Today went well because Fabio had problems. In the end, we have to take advantage of the situation and today we did. Normally, Austria is a good track for us. It won’t be easy because of the competition, but We have to think race by race.”
“It hasn’t been easy,” said Bagnaia after finishing the first race after the summer break. “During the weekend we had complications with the rear grip, so the big step was taken this morning.”
The Ducati rider’s strategy propelled him to first position, a place highly valued by one of the most promising riders of the weekend, Maverick Viñales.
“It wasn’t easy with Maverick. He was really fast this weekend and Turn 12 was hard for me to do. Fabio and Maverick overtook me there. But I knew if I pushed I could get a small lead.”
“This is one of my best wins or the best. It’s never easy, but today we suffered more, so I want to thank my team, who did an incredible job today.”
“The race started and I had already accepted that I was not going to win today. I pushed a lot from the beginning. The others were faster than me in the first laps. The only thing that helped me was the front end. We had nothing of grip at the back. This has been a problem. We have worked very well and I have to thank everyone”.
He also stopped with words of thanks to his team, with special mention to Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner.
“I want to thank my coach, and Vale and Casey because we have been writing to each other. Vale is the one who has helped me the most and he is incredible.”
“Valentino has helped me choose the tires. Casey told me what he remembered from this circuit. I am very happy with the people who can be with me.”
