Balearic Islands outbreak: The first students leave the hotel after the court overthrew the forced confinement of Armengol

The first healthy students forcibly confined by the Balearic Government of Francina Armengol have already begun to leave the Palma Bellver hotel after this Wednesday the judge overthrew this measure. The young people who were leaving the hotel got out in the taxis that were posted waiting to take them, as shown in the video. At all times, they were directed by the organizers of the trips.

As they left the hotel, objects were thrown onto the public thoroughfare from some balconies of the hotel establishment and, in addition, in the midst of the uproar, a taxi driver refused to transfer the young people and forced some of the students to get off. vehicle.

In the early afternoon, after hearing the sentence, the students confined to the hotel received the news with a shout of “we are free” and with music.

The Contentious-Administrative Court number 3 of Palma has decided not to ratify the forced confinement of the isolated young people in the Palma Bellver hotel due to the ‘macro outbreak’ associated with end-of-year trips to Mallorca; specifically, it does not ratify the confinement of people who have tested negative or who have not been tested.

In total, 249 students found themselves isolated in the Palma Bellver hotel for several days. The Government of the Balearic Islands enabled it as a ‘bridge hotel’ for quarantines of positives or close contacts of people who do not have residence on the island.

The Justice of Palma finally agrees with the dozens of parents who had filed a ‘habeas corpus’ before the court on duty for possible illegal detention of their children in the medicalized hotel and that was initially rejected. The Court argued that it was “an income recommended by the health authorities” and that, therefore, it was not “facing an alleged illegal detention.”
