Banco Santander returns to Ferrari and will be its sponsor

Banco Santander announced a new union with Scuderia Ferrari to become the team’s official sponsor. The Spanish company will have a large presence in the Maranello car, as the same statement indicated, in addition to occupying an important gap in the pilots’ overalls and clothing.

Santander will offer help to Ferrari to carry out its goal of zero carbon emissions from 2030.

Formula 1 recently confirmed that it would be a category with zero net emissions ( net zero ) in that season, and the financial company was the first bank in the world in financing renewable energies and its investment banking business (Santander CIB) has groups specialized in the ecological transition.

The entity has also been carbon neutral since 2020, and in its plans it indicates that it wishes to achieve net zero emissions for all its financing, advisory or investment services by 2050.

The president of Banco Santander, Ana Botín , said: “We are very excited to work with Ferrari again and help them with their green transition. We are committed to the fight against climate change and, as a leading car finance company in Europe, we want to help this industry is sustainable.

“This merger with Ferrari will speed up the development process of both companies in this area,” explained Botín.

 

The president of Ferrari, John Elkann also spoke about the alliance with the Spanish company: “It is an honor to have a financial leader like this as a partner, who stands out for his responsible banking, his leadership in the financing of renewable energies and advice on ESG projects.

“We appreciate the support you offer us to achieve the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in 2030,” he said. “The great innovations and technological advances in F1 translate to all areas, and that benefits society as a whole.”

Banco Santander was already present in the Maranello single-seaters. From 2007 to 2017, the Italians were linked to the financial company, with great visibility during the Fernando Alonso stage. Now, with Carlos Sainz, Ferrari will once again show off the Santander logo with a Spanish driver in the team.
