Reinhard Mey was the first celebrity to become an ambassador for the sea rescuers. Barbara Wussow is now taking over the honorary position.

Bremen – From the “dream ship” to the sea rescuers: The Austrian actress Barbara Wussow (60) will be the new ambassador of the German Society for Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS) in 2022.

She follows cartoonist Wolf-Rüdiger Marunde, as the sea rescuers in Bremen announced. "I have the greatest respect for the sea rescuers who bravely and selflessly stand up for others in any weather," said Wussow.

She is already the 23rd celebrity to take on the honorary office. It all started with songwriter Reinhard Mey. 180 permanent and around 800 voluntary sea rescuers drive around 2000 missions every year in the North and Baltic Seas. dpa
