Bastianini: "Alex Márquez will adapt very quickly to Ducati and Gresini"

With three victories in his locker, Enea Bastianini is, together with Fabio Quartararo, the one who has accumulated the most victories this season; a course that started like a shot and that placed him as one of the candidates to fight for the title, before entering a phase of irregularity that has practically ruled him out.

With two weeks to go before the World Championship gets under way again at Silverstone, the Italian is in fifth place in the general classification, with 105 points, one less than Pecco Bagnaia and 67 less than Quartararo , the leader.

Bastianini still does not know the colors he will wear next year, given that promotion to the official Ducati team with Jorge Martín is at stake. Whoever is chosen, the other will end up at Pramac and will receive the same treatment, both economically and in relation to the material available to him.

What is clear is that Bastianini will leave the Gresini structure, in which this course has been able to offer its best version despite having a 2021 prototype, an eventuality that worked in its favor in the first half of the calendar, when the Demosedici of 2022 was not quite sharp yet.

The vacancy left by the Beast will be occupied by the youngest of the Márquez brothers, who will change brands after three years on a Honda ; first from the Repsol team (2020) and after the LCR (2021 and 2022).

In an interview granted to gpone.com, and on the occasion of the World Ducati Week , Bastianini stated that he had no doubts about the benefits that Alex Márquez will find in his new team, in which he will be able to demonstrate his full potential.

“Gresini is a family where you feel very good. I think Alex will adapt very quickly both to the bike and to the team, so next year he will be one more opponent to take into account”, declared the Rimini rider this Weekend.

“Here [in Gresini] it’s very good, so yes, I think we’ll see the real Alex Márquez “, adds the #23 who, after five weeks of hiatus, is determined to change his most recent dynamic, which has led him to add only 11 points in the last four races: “In motor competitions there are usually ups and downs. The important thing is to recover quickly and go back to work. The holidays have allowed me to recharge my batteries,” he concluded.
