Previously, contact persons of a person infected with the omicron variant were quarantined for 14 days without the chance to test free. On Friday, the Federal Council cleared the way for an ordinance that regulates fundamental exceptions to quarantine.

Otherwise, the following has applied since last Tuesday: The duration of the isolation for infected people and the duration of the quarantine for close contacts is usually ten days. However, a free test with a negative PCR or rapid antigen test is possible after just seven days – although you must also be symptom-free for at least 48 hours after an infection.*
