Paderborn – It was the greatest moment of his life: Helmut Orosz from Wolfenbüttel made it into the live shows in the seventh season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2010. But an alleged coke video by the DSDS candidate led to the ejection from the show with chief judge Dieter Bohlen.

Twelve years later, Helmut Orosz is still struggling with addiction problems. Shortly before his comeback appearance in Paderborn (NRW), the DSDS singer caught up with the past again. In 2022, the 43-year-old spent six months in a rehab clinic – with success.
Orosz got his alcohol addiction under control. But at the weekend, a planned comeback appearance in Paderborn got out of hand. After 25 minutes, I canceled my performance, which was planned to last 40 minutes. I was too weak from the alcohol.”

After the performance of the DSDS candidate from 2010 was canceled, the singer drove home and continued to drink on his couch. ” The next day I was so ashamed because I let everyone who believed in me down. But mostly myself! I just cried.”
After being kicked out of DSDS in 2010, Orosz fell into a hole. The singer was given a chance to win. In addition to addiction problems, Orosz also had to deal with bankruptcy. He allegedly gave up alcohol by 2021 and was admitted to a clinic after a relapse.

There he wrote a book with which he wanted to go on a reading tour. But the tour had to be canceled because of the renewed relapse during his concert in Paderborn. “I just wasn’t ready to perform again. I didn’t concentrate enough on my therapy in the clinic. I will do that differently now and get through the therapy for three months.”
