Berlin police: Video shows racist action – official threatens couple

A police operation escalates in Berlin. The officials actually wanted to execute an arrest warrant. There are racist insults.

Berlin – There was a racist police operation in Berlin. The police are therefore investigating against one of their own officers who racially abused a woman. A video of the incident has surfaced on Twitter. It first shows an arrested man sitting on a bed with handcuffs. Then there is a war of words between the police and the spouses.

“Go outside,” the policeman tells the woman. “This is my house,” she replies. Then the racist remark is made: “This is my country and you are a guest here,” the official notes. Meanwhile, a child can be heard crying. “This is my house, this is not your country,” countered the arrested man.

Then there is a cut. The woman accuses the police officer of hitting her husband. He replies that they only brought him to the ground. “Shut up, don’t touch me again!” the officer threatened. The arrested man asks the police officer to leave his wife alone.

“Your wife isn’t supposed to talk to me like that. You are here in our country, you have to behave according to our laws!” says the policeman and threatens her “I will take you to prison, I will take you to prison”. In between, a child calls “Mama, Mama”. Then the recording ends.

The police wanted to execute an arrest warrant – the man is said to have resisted

According to the police, the officers had visited the couple’s apartment to execute an arrest warrant for fraudulently obtaining benefits against the man. He is said to have resisted the arrest. His wife tried to free him. However, it is currently not possible to verify whether this actually happened. However, the couple paid the outstanding amount of 750 euros, so the officials left the apartment.

According to the police, the couple had filed a complaint for assault in office and a racist insult. Officials involved in the operation initiated investigations into various crimes. (Moritz Serif)
