This is the flagship branch of Ireland’s Porterhouse Brewing Company and has probably the best selection of beers in the world in London. There are nine house beers, which are made in Dublin, including three ales and three heavy ales… and an oyster beer.

The Arbitrager is another Irish pub famous for its imported Guinness cigar. Located in the heart of the city, opposite the London Stock Exchange, once inside, you feel like you are in a country pub. The little bar upstairs used to be full of smoke, but the UK smoking ban came in July 2007 so things should have improved.

From the outside you will not realize how wonderful this place is. It’s huge inside so be careful staying at the bar, what bar? It’s really cavernous and it even has a huge tree trunk running down the middle! The interior decor is quite church-like, with pulpits overlooking the lower bar, rustic wooden seating, and hidden nooks and crannies throughout. Waxy’s really is a special place to sink a few pints of Guinness, and the food is good too.
