Bomb threat: police evacuate clinic in Bremerhaven

A bomb threat is received at a hospital in Bremerhaven. Rescue workers bring patients out of the building to safety. The police are in full force.

Bremerhaven – Due to a bomb threat at the Mitte clinic in Bremerhaven, a larger police and fire brigade operation is underway. Emergency services evacuated the clinic, a police spokeswoman said.

The fire brigade and rescue service were in the process of bringing patients from the hospital to safety. According to initial information, there are around 40 people.

The bomb threat was received by the clinic in the late afternoon, the police spokeswoman said. The officials were initially unable to provide any information on the content and the author. Numerous emergency services were deployed and requested – explosive detection dogs were also on site, said the spokeswoman.

The Klinikum Mitte is located just north of downtown Bremerhaven. According to the operator Ameos on the clinic website, the house had around 180 inpatient beds in 2017. dpa
