The Gaithersburg Book Festival is a literary festival in Gaithersburg, Maryland, inspired by the National Book Festival in Washington DC. National and local cheer writers address and interact with readers at a free, all-day outdoor event on the Gaithersburg City Hall compound. The event has something for everyone, covering a wide range of topics, including children’s books, memoirs, fiction, non-fiction, historical novels, and much more. The festival includes panel discussions on hot topics in the world of books and individual conversations between authors and critics and industry experts.

The highlights of the festival
- Nationally Recognized and Awarded Authors: More than 100 featured authors include winners and finalists for all major American awards (Pulitzer Prize, National Book Prize, Newbery Medal) and dozens of New York Times national best-sellers
- Children’s Village – features some of the leading authors of children’s literature; Imagination station where children can act or watch professional artists.
- Workshops: Topics range from writing books, comedies, college admissions essays, and graphic novels to promoting your work, publishing your poems, and succeeding in a career as a freelance writer. Pre-registration is required for workshops.
- Multilingual Storytime Store – New this year, the store will feature stories written in Spanish, French, Farsi, Hindi, Korean and Vietnamese, read by students and educators at Shady Grove Universities. The readings will last 20 minutes and are scheduled every half hour starting at 10 am
