Brazilian turkey: your Christmas dinner could be imported from that country after a permit from Senasica

BRF BRFS3.SA reported that its production subsidiary in Chapecó, located in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, was authorized to export turkey meat to Mexico by the National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality (Senasica).

This is the second subsidiary of the company authorized to export turkey protein to the country. Last year, Mexico had already enabled the subsidiary located in Francisco Beltrilo.

The permits for the Brazilian are presented after in 2017, the Mexican authorities suspended the export of poultry products from Brazil, due to a health crisis in the South American country due to the adulteration of beef.

So, Mexico decided to precautionary restrict the introduction of poultry products to the country, until the Brazilian health authority offered scientific evidence and guarantees of health, quality and safety.

At that time, Mexico imported from Brazil only poultry products such as refrigerated, frozen and dehydrated chicken and turkey meat, fertile eggs and poultry.

Previously, South Korea suspended the distribution of already imported chicken to verify the quality of the merchandise, while the European Union asked Brazil to "immediately eliminate the establishments involved."
