In 2017, Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor published an article in the New York Times newspaper that first exposed allegations of sexual abuse against the all-powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Wenstein. These two journalists did everything in their power to get the document out and considering what the entertainment industry likes in true-life dramas, it was foreseeable that their story would eventually end up having a movie of its own. . The production company that is preparing it is Universal and will be entitled She said (She said), based on the article and subsequent best seller of the renowned magazine that helped ignite a movement like me too . The two actresses being considered for the role of the two reporters are Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan.

The protagonists of this true story, Kantor and Twohey revealed a series of cases of sexual harassment and assault 4 years ago of the then co-chairman of The Wenstein Company, Harvey Wenstein . Events that went back years in time and that the producer had repeated systematically throughout his professional life, taking advantage of his position of power. Apart from the testimony of several actresses according to the abuses, the article in turn, uncovered all the details of the money that had been paid to cover up the atrocities committed by Wenstein. This document caused, on the one hand, that the producer was fired from his company, tried and sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and, on the other, it changed the way in which people worked in Hollywood thanks to the impulse of the #Metoo movements and #TimesUp around the world.

In the co-production, Annapurna Pictures and Plan B Entertainment obtained the rights to She Said in a film that will eventually be directed by Maria Schrader ( Unorthodox ) and will feature a screenplay adaptation by Rebecca Lenkiewicz ( Ida ). It is the third project that Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan share together, after the Broadway stage production of The Seagull and that Mulligan later interpreted a script signed by Kazan in What Burns with Fire , a film directed by Paul Dano. This will be the first time they share a shot on the big screen, in a production that will surely point to the career of the next Oscars.
