On February 20, 2023, the Shrove Monday procession will be moving through Cologne again. The highlight of the Cologne carnival this time comes up with a lot of innovations.

Cologne – “D’r Zoch kütt”: When people stand close together on the street on Shrove Monday, collect “Kamelle” or “Strüßjer” and sway to Cologne music, it must be time for the Shrove Monday procession again. The largest carnival parade in the whole of NRW will take place in the coming session on February 20, 2023 – and in contrast to previous years for Cologne, it will also bring some changes.
24RHEIN reveals what visitors to the Shrove Monday parade at the Cologne Carnival 2023 can look forward to.

The procession, affectionately known as “Zoch” by the people of Cologne, will start next year for the first time on the “right bank of the Rhine”; The starting point is the Messe/Deutz train station not far from the Lanxess Arena. On the left bank of the Rhine, Chlodwigplatz, in the past often the starting point for the major event in Cologne’s carnival, this time the Shrove Monday parade is to end. (mo)
