Dresden – The two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (52) comes to the Dresden Philharmonic for filming. In the strip “TÁR” by Todd Fields, she embodies a chief conductor, announced the Philharmonic on Tuesday.

Part of the film are also two regular concerts by the orchestra in the Kulturpalast, it said. From September 16, the concert hall will be used as a film set for a week. The film is produced by Focus Features and Universal Pictures International in association with X Films International.

According to the Philharmonic, Nina Hoss and the French actress Noémie Merlant also play in the film. The soundtrack comes from the Grammy winner Hildur Guðnadóttir. At the concerts on September 18 and 19, Gustav Mahler’s 5th Symphony will be performed under the direction of Stanislav Kochanovsky. It also said that pictures with the audience would be shot, but not close-ups.

According to the Philharmonie, X Films International is sending a team of 120 people to Dresden. There will be several tents and trucks around the Kulturpalast for make-up, catering and as lounges for the film team. Other parts of the film would be shot in Berlin.
